When a solid password isn’t enough, multi-factor authentication comes in handy. While the process behind multi-factor authentication is longer, it can do more to protect what’s personal or important to you. For example, if you log in to an account, you can also receive a call or text message with a code to enter in a follow-up screen. This is a prime example of multi-factor authentication.
The option gives users far more protection. If hackers get a hold of their passwords, they’re not likely to have access to their phones or contact numbers, and as soon as a client receives a call with a code, they’ll know something is up. The hacker cannot fulfill the next steps, and the client can change their password or take the necessary precautions to ensure their account is no longer compromised.
